Two members (W W II veterans) of Morton American Legion Post 318, Ray Funk (Morton, IL) and Warren Martin (Hopedale, IL) were selected to participate in an Honor Flight out of Springfield, IL on April 5, 2011. They arrived at the Springfield airport at 4:30 am, along with 85 other veterans and as many guardians (each veteran has someone to watch over him for the trip). Arrived in Washington, DC and boarded three buses for their tours of the WW II Monument, along with the other monuments and Arlington Cemetery, changing of the guard. After a very busy day they landed in Springfield at 10:30 pm and were welcomed home by bagpipes,color guard, and a crowd of approximately 400 people cheering, waving flags, and saying "thank you"!
